Damping Cylinder

Damping cylinders are oil filled and fit to the main valve actuator as shown below. The hydraulic action of the oil flowing thru the internal orifice provides the valve with a constant opening and closing velocity.

GEA Tuchenhagen always recommend that the flow path direction through the valve be in the direction indicated. When this cannot be avoided, a damping cylinder may help reduce the risk of valve hammer.

• Damping cylinders can only be used certain actuators. Please refer to the Actuator Selection Charts under "Related documents."
• Damping cylinders cannot be used with old style integrated lift actuators.
